VanDusen Show Highlights

It was everything an outdoor garden show should be.

If you didn't attend this year, book your calendar to be there next year!

In the meantime, sit back and enjoy a tour through some of the sights we saw at a recent VanDusen Botanical Flower and Garden Show.

Jardin Potager

This mischievous little miss can't resist stepping inside the wicker garden gate at the display garden Jardin Potager.

Inspired by Provence, this stunning display garden combined the natural elements of clay and wicker in innovative and thoroughly charming ways.

The garden included a working clay oven which they used to bake bread during the Show. Adobe brick walls and tiles seen in the photos below complemented the rustic ambience of the custom-woven wicker elements.

JARDIN POTAGER was produced by Plants & Gardens, Richard Melnychuk and Associates of Abbotsford, BC with assistance from Donna Guillemin of Grove Plant Works, Lolitta Aaron and Richard Friesen Landscape Lighting.

The towering woven wicker entry arch (below left) led immediately into a vegetable garden enclosed within a wicker fence, and from there into an inner courtyard partially bordered by a live willow screen which is being patiently woven into a cross-hatch pattern as it grows (below right).
