Irish Potter's Shed
A serene oasis greeted visitors to the Avant Gardener display garden designed by Georgina Horrobin. Upon closer inspection, little bits of whimsy crept into one's conscious, like the pig in chef's gear standing in a mini-field of lavender. Then there was the little rat (concrete version, thankfully), with tummy upturned to the sun's warm rays asleep on a nice, warm pile of composted earth. A delightful garden.

| The broad, sloping expanse of the VanDusen great lawn is one of Nature's perfect stages. People sipped fresh lemonade as they gathered on the hillside to watch these gaily outfitted dancers perform. |

And, what good gardening show would be without a slug or two?
If you've thrown up your hands at the surge in the slug population this year, maybe you might want to invest in some nice real estate for them, like these slug houses. Pottery by Jo Priestly, a Mission, BC artist. |
We hope you enjoyed this peak at the fabulous 1998 VanDusen Garden Show. |
